Women’s shoe shop Aileen Murray has opened up a boutique for women’s footwear in the heart of the city’s inner-north.
Key points:Owner Aileen says she hopes to create a sense of belonging and comfort for the women in her store, which will be on the ground floor of the Waverley Shopping Centre on the corner of Paddington and ParkgateIn her first year she’s already sold out.
“It’s the beginning of a new chapter in my life,” she said.
“I’m really excited for what we’re going to do.”
We’re really excited to be opening our doors to women’s footwear in the centre of Waverly.
“If you look at the way we operate we really cater to the whole range of footwear styles.”
From our women’s casual to our women high heels, from our sandalwood to our suede, there’s so many different styles.
“It really is an exciting time for me and for women in general.”
In 2017, Murray opened up her own shop on the same corner as her business.
She said her store would cater to women who wanted to explore what was out there.
“Women’s shoes, women’s heels, sandalwoods, sandals, suedes, shoes and boots, they all have a lot in common,” she explained.
“You can find a woman’s shoe at your local store, you can find one in the city or the bush, it’s really easy to find what you want.”
The store will be open from 9am to 6pm every day.
“When we opened up the first store we were the first shoe shop in the inner-North,” she told News.
“A lot of women didn’t know about it, and when we opened the second store it was like a whole new world for them.”
So, we wanted to do it for women who are already out there, we’re also the first shop in Western Sydney to cater to people who are out there who are not just walking down the street, but out walking their dogs, or out walking the dogs at their local park, so we wanted women to feel at home.
“In a statement to News.COM.AU, Aileen said the new store would be dedicated to women in need of the footcare they needed, and help women who needed to feel more comfortable shopping for their footwear.”
The new store will cater to both women who want to explore the range of styles and women who just want to shop for their shoes and be able to find something for themselves,” she wrote.”
With so many styles and brands that women are looking for, there will be a lot of styles for women to choose from, and we want to cater for that.
“She said the store was in the midst of renovations to the existing store, but would be open on a week to week basis.”
In a nutshell, I think that’s what it’s all about,” she concluded.”
This is really about a woman who is in need, someone who is struggling with a situation, or someone who just wants to shop and not be judged by their size or their colour, or their shoe.””
I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with women who have problems shopping, but if they have a problem they should go to a store that is supportive of them, that’s all it is about.
“They shouldn’t have to go to an alternative shop, or go shopping for themselves.”
“So what we are doing is, we want women to shop.
We want women who can’t afford to shop to go out to a shop that is not judgemental.”
